Kickflips are way easier, and I'm more consistent with them. I can barely heelflip to save my life. In the amount of time it would take me to land one heelflip, I could have landed 10 kickflips. AAAAH this thread has prety much punched me in the face And dont even get me started on heelflips, if stationary i can do a "perfect" heelflip a couple of feet high but if i try it rolling i just fling the board away.
I've found kickflips alot easier, I have alot of trouble heelflips but I manage to land them. For kickflips im pretty good at em, like I can kickflip 2 deck I reckon. Position your feet as you would for an ollie — with your back foot across the tail for the pop and your front foot near the center of the board.
Put your front foot placed more forward on the board so that your toes hang off a little. This will make the trick much easier. Keep one foot at the back of the board and the other in the middle. This is also important to learn before trying the varial heel flip. Lift up with your front foot and scoop with your back foot. You will need to get the board turning with your back foot by scooping the board backwards. Slide your tilting front foot diagonally on the board.
As you tilt your front foot forward, also start sliding it in the direction your toes are pointed. In doing so, the front of your foot will begin to slide off of the front right corner of the skateboard.
This is because a heelflip does all of its spinning on the way up. So, pop the way you normally would for an ollie and flick the spider off your ankle.
